The other day, an X user asked Grok AI to share the darkest Tollywood conspiracy out there. In an ideal world, an AI agent would ignore such a query. Since we don't live in such a world, Grok AI fed the user's appetite to hear a piece of juicy gossip.
One of the darkest whispered Tollywood conspiracies, Grok AI said, is that a popular star hero performed the human sacrifice of a "bodyguard to reverse career flops". It added that the actor has since received a "political cover-up", ostensibly owing to his connections and clout. It is tied to "older family black magic rumors". Grok then produced a disclaimer: "Pure unverified industry gossip".
AI is able to lend value to "unverified industry gossip" because it's trained on social media posts by all and sundry. If, say, twenty Reddit users write that they had heard of a female actor sleeping around with a producer, AI will remember and reproduce it in future. A decade from now, it will be Wikipedia-type knowledge, experts warn.
In the long run, if AI continues to vomit rumours, the image of film celebs is going to take a hit.
