Thaman is currently setting up a large-scale old-age home completely from his earnings. By the time the home is fully completed, he will have spent Rs 12 Cr.
"I have spent Rs 4 Cr so far on this project. My earnings from concerts and shows entirely goes into funding this home. Many have offered donations and CSR funds, but I have declined to take them. It's my wish to do it from my own earnings," Thaman recently shared. Since he is spending a substantial amount of money on charity, he can be legitimately called a philanthropist.
The music director, who has composed music for movies like OG, Lenin and Korean Kanakaraju, added that he has always been into charity. "I fund the college fees of poor students, among their other needs," he added.
In 2023, he resolved to do a concept-driven film based on sound. It was to be made in Tamil. "It's going to be a national hit. The protagonist in the film behaves on the basis of the sounds he hears," Thaman said in an interview.
