If you can't slap, if you can't touch your woman wherever you want, if you can't kiss, I don't see emotion there," director Sandeep Reddy Vanga controversially opined in an explosive interview weeks after the theatrical release of the Hindi film Kabir Singh, the remake of Arjun Reddy. Many are reminded of this provocative opinion after the release of a glimpse video of Romanchakam, a Telugu-language romantic drama.
In the glimpse, the lead pair (played by Sumanth Prabhas and MAD, 8 Vasanthalu fame Ananthika Sanilkumar) are seen slapping around, telling each other 'I hate you'. The stretch follows Animal and Peddi actor Upendra Limaye laughing mockingly.
The beats of the glimpse seem to be designed to provoke a controversy rather than seem organic. The film is presented by Sandeep Vanga himself and produced by his brother, Pranay Reddy via Bhadrakali Pictures.
Sumanth Prabhas has previously acted in Mem Famous and Godari Gattupaina. The latter, released recently, was a disaster. Romanchakam is a 'make or break' project for him.
