In a shocking case uncovered in Miyapur, the perpetrators explicitly relied on the plotlines of popular movies like Drushyam and Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya to dispose of a body and mislead investigators.
The case involves Satyavati and her partner, Madhusudhan Reddy, who conspired to eliminate Satyavati's husband, Pentesh, after he discovered their affair. In November last year, they laced his food with sedatives and suffocated him. Channeling tactics from cinema, they drove the body to an isolated area in Maharashtra and burned it with petrol. To throw the police off their scent, Satyavati lodged a missing person complaint a week later. "They even tossed the victim's phone into a Gujarat-bound truck to create a false trail of location data. Despite their calculated efforts, the police grew suspicious of Satyavati's behavior and eventually cracked the case, arresting three individuals," a report says.

Drushyam, centered on hiding a body and manipulating timelines, has been cited in multiple murder investigations across various states. Criminals have confessed to learning intricate kidnapping, forgery, and hacking techniques from popular crime dramas like Special 26 and Money Heist. Even dark web series have been blamed for teaching youth how to destroy evidence after committing a crime.
