Actress Sameera Reddy has opened up about the "toxic" beauty standards she faced, especially during her 2002 debut Maine Dil Tujhko Diya in Hindi.
Speaking to Hauterrfly, she mentioned that after losing weight early in her career, she was bluntly told by a female assistant director on set that her "bum is flat". Designers told her she wasn't "endowed" enough, leading to outfits that consistently had padded bras and bum pads built right into them. She spent two decades wearing padded undergarments and colored lenses to fit the mold. She revealed they made her face 2 to 3 shades lighter with makeup to the point where she looked grey, forcing her to do full-body makeup just to match.
