Superstar Rajinikanth has once again found himself at the centre of political speculation. This comes despite his recent clarification that he never attempted to prevent actor-politician Vijay from becoming the CM of Tamil Nadu. Rajinikanth firmly denied claims that he offered to mediate between the DMK and AIADMK to block Vijay's political ambitions.
The latest controversy erupted after a purported video showing the Vettaiyan and Coolie star in a casual conversation with former BJP state president K. Annamalai went viral on social media. The clip sparked speculation that Rajinikanth was backing Annamalai as a political alternative to Vijay. However, several social media users and fact-checkers pointed out that the video was manipulated.
Rajinikanth has long been the subject of political rumours. Although he announced a political entry in 2020, he later withdrew due to health concerns. Since then, he has repeatedly maintained that he is not involved in active politics.
Meanwhile, he awaits the theatrical release of Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dhilipkumar.
