For someone who watches few movies, he might have missed out on Baramulla had it not been for the online chatter surrounding its release last year. Starring Manav Kaul as a police officer investigating child disappearances in the town of Baramulla, Kashmir, the story blends supernatural elements with themes of generational trauma, loss, exile, and the socio-political history of the Kashmir Valley, particularly the 1990s exodus of Kashmiri Pandits (Hindus) amid militancy and violence.
The Hari Hara Veera Mallu actor also revealed that he is not fond of the "bubble gum" romance of the Bollywood variety from the 1990s. Rather, he prefers the Dev Anand variety of romance. Bubble gum romances are colourful, escapist, idealised and unrealistic. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is a popular example. He also added that he used to like Raj Kapoor's movies.
