Sing Geetham is easily one of the most well-promoted movies of the year. Not because we are seeing its promotional material all over social media - far from it. But because some of the biggest names have promoted it out of immense respect for Singeetam Sreenivasa Rao, the 94-year-old filmmaker. Ahead of its release, Kamal Haasan participated in an event and showered his love on the veteran. Stretches from his speech have been admired by cinephiles.
On Wednesday, two days ahead of the theatrical release of the experimental musical film, SS Rajamouli and Sandeep Reddy Vanga joined the party. Sharing a song from the movie, the Animal maker wrote, "Some filmmakers make movies. Some filmmakers create memories. Singeetam Srinivasa Rao garu created an entire universe of imagination for generations."
What is more, several actors are slowly giving the film a boost. Victory Venkatesh lauded Singeetam's contribution to Indian cinema as "immeasurable, and the storytelling magic he has given us over decades is timeless".
In the coming days, expect the likes of Prabhas (certainly, because he is Nag Ashwin's hero of Kalki 2) to speak about the movie, urging the audience to watch it. The question is, will all of this translate into collections?
Sing Geetham will head to theatres on June 12.
