Maa Inti Bangaram crushes Deewana

Maa Inti Bangaram and Deewana were released in theatres last week. The verdict is out. Samantha Ruth Prabhu's movie is on its way to becoming a triple blockbuster, while its smaller competitor stands decimated.

While Tralala Moving Pictures has said that MIB made Rs 43 Cr in worldwide gross in its first three days, the actual figure is estimated to be around Rs 37 Cr. The film, directed by BV Nandini Reddy, entirely deserves its run at the box office. It's a clean hit for the young banner, owned by Samantha. The film is also produced by Himank Duvvuru and Raj Nidimoru.

Deewana, starring Harshith Reddy and Smeha, is a flop. A love story with an interval twist and an emotional climax, the film has been criticized for melodrama and its problematic humour. Speaking at a presser today in Hyderabad, the makers suggested that 'A' certification from the CBFC played a role in the muted response. "Some noted films featuring adult language have received U/A in recent years. We saw outrage against them even on social media. However, Deewana was given A despite not featuring any profanity or obscenity," a member from the team said. Harshith Reddy has previously acted in films like Kalki 2898 AD and Subham.
