Dr. Rajasekhar has missed out on at least three blockbusters. Shankar's Gentleman, Chiranjeevi's Tagore, and Mani Ratnam's Roja came his way first. He couldn't do them for different reasons. While Gentleman and Roja were declined by him, Tagore slipped from his hands despite his interest in the subject.
While these misses were on the professional front, on the personal front, too, there was a big miss. Rajasekhar would have married actress Sridevi had everything gone well. The legendary actress' mother was in favour of the alliance. In an interview, Rajasekhar revealed that his parents (specifically his mother) were actually hesitant because Sridevi was an actress. At that time, his family was quite conservative and didn't want a daughter-in-law from the film industry. Ironically, Rajasekhar later joined the industry himself and married actress Jeevitha.
Sridevi's father reportedly liked Rajasekhar, who was a handsome young doctor at the time, and approached Rajasekhar's father with the marriage proposal.
Sridevi went on to marry Boney Kapoor, while Rajasekhar married Jeevitha, who was deeply in love with him.
