IMAX in Hyderabad: Netizens start a negative narrative

Asian Cinemas, one of the biggest theatre chains in the country, is going to announce an IMAX screen in Hyderabad very soon. This has been a work-in-progress for several years. Suniel Narang, who has collaborated with Mahesh Babu, Vijay Deverakonda, Ravi Teja and Sivakarthikeyan to build multiplexes in recent years, has confirmed the news.

A section of cinephiles have started nitpicking. As per them, the screen's aspect ratio is not going to be worth it. Criticizing the negative narratives on social media, industry insider Meher Kilaru wrote, "They are calling it a 'LieMax', complaining that it's not a GT (Grand Theatre) IMAX, saying a 1.90:1 aspect ratio is a waste, and claiming Dolby Cinema is better. First, let them roll it out, and if it works out well business-wise, it will clear the way for many more to come. They haven't yet revealed the technical specifications, but the negative tweets have already started. Have some patience."

When the IMAX screen is real and ready, lakhs are going to watch event movies such as Varanasi, Dragon and Raaka there.
