At least three noteworthy love stories are currently in the making. Anand Deverakonda-Vaishnavi Chaitanya's EPIC - First Semester, Kiran Abbavaram-Sri Gouri Priya's Chennai Love Story, and Jayakrishna Ghattamaneni-Rasha Thadani's Srinivasa Mangapuram.
Interestingly, the makers of all the three movies are confident that they have musical blockbusters in their kitty. EPIC's music is composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab, CLS' music is by 'Melody Brahma' Mani Sharma, and SM's music is by GV Prakash Kumar.
At a time when love stories have run out of currency, these films want to bring back the genre back to its 2000s form. More than EPIC and CLS, it is Srinivasa Mangapuram that needs to have better songs. That's because it features newcomers about whom the audience don't know anything and the best bet for newcomers doing a romantic story (it's a romantic actioner) is getting to be seen in tunes that are a hit with listeners.
EPIC seems to be right on track. Director Aditya Haasan's picturization seems tasteful so far. Chennai Love Story is an emotional love story and Mani Sharma's melodies are a minimum guarantee. With Srinivasa Mangapuram, we ought to trust director Ajay Bhupathi (RX 100 and Mangalavaaram) more than GV Prakash.
