Young Telugu heroes: Mixed choices, risky bets, and uneven journeys

A new generation of young heroes is actively making career choices that reflect a mixture of bold experimentation, occasional missteps, and high-concept risks. Let's chronicle their careers.

Teja Sajja stands out with ambition, making a strong impact through HanuMan and continuing that momentum with Mirai. Up next, he has three pan-Indian movies coming up, including Mirai 2 and Zombie Reddy 2.

Sangeeth Sobhan has found a sweet spot in high-energy comedy, delivering back-to-back appeal with MAD and its follow-up MAD Square.

Mouli broke out with Little Hearts and maintains strong expectations for his upcoming venture, Donga Na Koduku.

In contrast, Santhosh Soban has travelled a rockier road. He scored early visibility with OTT release Ek Mini Katha and built interest with Couple Friendly this year, yet a series of theatrical setbacks in between highlighted the volatile nature of script selection.

Emerging talents like Harsh Roshan have anchored projects like Court and Band Melam, while Roshan Meka remains a familiar face with Pelli SandaD and Champion.

Harshith Reddy has quietly expanded his slate with Deewana (an unexpected flop despite Geetha Arts' backing) and Subham (not a solo hero movie). Meanwhile, Roshan Kanakala continues his journey from Bubble Gum to Mowgli. Both films from the son of Suma and Rajeev Kanakala were disasters at the box office.

Jay Krishna Ghattamaneni was recently seen in Srinivasa Mangapuram, an expected disaster of sorts.

Sumanth Prabhas branches out with Godari Gattupaina and Romanchakam. His choices have been safe, with his latest release being derivative in nature.

Akash Puri has taken on diverse roles in titles such as Chor Bazaar, Romantic, and Mehbooba. All of his projects have bombed at the box office. He has been playing it safe.

Sri Simha Koduri (MM Keeravani's son) scored hits with quirky comedy Mathu Vadalara and its hit sequel Mathu Vadalara 2. However, intermediate projects like Bhaag Saale, Ustaad, and Thellavarithe Guruvaram faced poor box office outcomes.

On balance, our young actors have been failed by filmmakers for the most part.
