Bad luck continues to haunt Anu Emmanuel

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that Anu Emmanuel had pinned hopes on Karthi's 'Japan', the major Diwali release. The film's commercial failure is something that will haunt the actress' budding career in Kollywood.

This comes on the back of a years-long sputtering career path in Telugu. Despite last year's watchable 'Urvasio Rakshasivo', Anu hasn't been able to land noteworthy roles. In Ravi Teja's 'Ravanasura', she was reduced to a mere character artist. As it is, she was not the female lead of the movie.

In a way, what happened in 2018 continues to harm Anu till today. Trivikram-directed 'Agnyathavaasi' and Allu Arjun's 'Naa Peru Surya' virtually ended her career in Telugu cinema. Anu, to be fair, was watchable in both movies. But their disastrous run made her look like a consummate failure.

In the film industry, hits matter more than acting talent. That's why some actresses whose films become commercial hits land a slew of offers despite pathetic acting talent while others like Anu bear the brunt.
