13 years ago, he was a lover boy, a hattrick hero who won millions of young girls’ hearts with films like ‘Chitram’, ‘Nuvvu Nenu’ and ‘Manasantha Nuvve’. Now the same hero has turned into an action hero and all set to appear on silver screen and surprise all in a powerful police officer character. Yes, Uday Kiran is starting his second innings on the auspicious day of Ugadi with his come back film ‘Jai Sreeram’ releasing tomorrow (April 11). This Five Star Entertainments movie, directed by Balaji N Sai is going to hit 287 theaters on the auspicious day. On this occasion, Uday Kiran had a small chit-chat with the media regarding the release of this film. Here are few excerpts:
‘Jai Sreeram’ showcases me entirely different for which I’ve put in lot of efforts to change my image. For the first time I’ve changed myself completely to play a character. I’m very surprised to see me on the screen. I took care of every small thing while doing this character. As an actor I’m completely satisfied with this character. I played a powerful police officer as ACP Sriram Srinivas. Director Balaji N Sai did his best to show me differently. I felt a little strange to deliver a punch dialogue like ‘Manchitananiki salute…..theda vasthe bullet’. For the first time I got an opportunity to speak about a character I’ve played.
My film journey started 13 years ago when I was 19. I failed during my early time of my career due to lack of experience. I tried only those roles which would suit my personality. However my thought process has changed a lot now when compared to my initial period of my career. The audience will see that change in ‘Jai Sreeram’. I’ve tried to come out of an image which was formed earlier. It took so long for me to understand what the audience is expecting from me. ‘Jai Sreeram’ has given me 100% satisfaction as an actor because I was so much involved with it. It’s sure to give me a new life. Henceforth I will try to surprise the audience by choosing scripts from different genres.
I did ‘Sreeram’ 10 years ago, which was quite contrast to my lover boy image during that time. Actually that film was a milestone film in my career when it comes to box-office collections. However, I had to face lot of criticism for doing such a role during that time. Many felt that was not a good idea to do that role when I got a lover boy image. So after that I never tried films from that genre. After a very long time this film has given me an opportunity to come out of the chocolate boy and lover boy image. Hence I had put in lot of effort to attract the audience with my performance in this film. There is no similarlity between ‘Sreeram’ and ‘Jai Sreeram’. There is good response for stills and trailers. People are saying that I look perfect with manly look.
Post marriage, my life is filled with happy moments. My family is my strength right from the beginning and now it has doubled with the support of my wife. Recently I took darshan of Lord Rama in Bhadrachalam. So I believe that the Lord will help me come out of all my past troubles. I’m presently doing a bilingual film (tamil/Telugu) under the direction of Sudhakar. The film was recently launched and shooting is at progress. It’s a good commercial entertainer.
