Nivetha Pethuraj on 'RED'

Nivetha Pethuraj has played a cop in 'RED'. She is hardly a tough cop in the movie. In this interview, the 'Mental Madhilo' and 'Chitralahari' actress talks about her character, what to expect from the movie and a lot more. The film will release in theatres on January 14.

Excerpts

Ram Pothineni surprised me when I first saw him. I would be shocked at his sudden transformation in front of the camera. He is very chilled on the set and all. He gets a lot of kick when he does a certain type of characters. Once the shot is over, he is not in the character at all. He listens to music and chills out. I am not like that. I am in the character, sometimes I am moody. I don't talk with anybody. From Ram, I have learned that you can come out of the character after a shot is over.

Director Kishore Tirumala sir is particular about the body language of his actors. He likes them to be subtle. He doesn't like his actors to make too much body movements. My eyes would look very big and he would alert me against it. In 'RED', there are two other heroines, but I didn't think twice before saying yes to the movie. I don't have combination scenes with Amritha Aiyer and Malavika Sharma.

I have played typical roles that are dream roles in the commercial space. I want to make my mark down South before even thinking of a Bollywood entry.

Before 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo', I hadn't watched Trivikram Srinivas' movies. But I don't regret doing the movie because that film reached everyone. So, regardless of whether I was a second or third heroine, it doesn't matter in retrospect.

I am doing just a special appearance in Rana Daggubati's 'Viraata Parvam'. I am enjoying doing Chandoo Mondeti's woman-centric film. I am in talks for 'Kartikeya 2'. I have a bubbly role in 'Paagal'. I want to be versatile the way Vijay Sethupathy is. I want to play all kinds of roles. If something makes sense, I am ready to try glamorous roles.
