'Jathi Ratnalu' will release in theatres on March 11. Faria Abdullah, who is its female lead, has spoken about her background, the movie, her character in the comedy-drama and more.

I am a Hyderabadi, but it's only of late that I am learning Telugu. I have been staying at Banjara Hills. I have been into modelling, dancing and arts. I have associated myself with different theatre groups for six years in Hyderabad. A web series in Telugu, named 'Nakshatra', is to my credit. I fell in love with the camera while working on the web series. I have done almost 50 stage shows.

I did Mass Communication at Loyola College. Nag Ashwin happened to visit our college as a chief guest for an event. I met him and told him I am a theatre artist. I started following him on Instagram. Years later, I landed a role in 'Jathi Ratnalu'.

My character's name is Chitti in the movie. The love story is the driving force of the story. I can't reveal more than this. The film is a satire on society. We all think that we are very smart, but honestly, we are not forthcoming and bold. Our film is a take on today's society.

I have got scenes with not just Naveen Polishetty but also Rahul Ramakrishna and Priyadarshi. Naveen helped me a lot with dialogues. Rahul has got a journalism background. He is into literature and poetry. We would discuss a lot of issues with him.

The music is beautiful. I am lucky to have got to work with brilliant artists and technicians such as Radhan for my first movie itself. There are three songs or so in 'Jathi Ratnalu'.

Doing theatre helped me understand how to analyze a character. You can't allow yourself to overtake the character or story. Cinema is a bit easier than theatre, given that we get enough time to rehearse for our scenes. If actors start rehearsing for their scenes beforehand, the quality of cinema would improve a great deal.
