'Aaradugula Bullet' will be released in theatres on October 8. In this interview, director B Gopal talks about his comeback movie, the premise of the Gopichand-Nayanthara starrer, the father-son equations in the movie, plans to work with Nandamuri Balakrishna, and more.
The film is the story of a jobless son (Gopichand) and his disappointed father (Prakash Raj). There comes a point when the father wants to banish his son from home. This is when a street rowdy targets the father. What the son does to save his father is the crux of the story.
The affection between the father-son duo, the clash between the hero and the villains, the romantic track will be key highlights. Gopichand's performance in the scenes with Prakash Raj garu will stand out. Abburi Ravi's dialogues will let the audience feel the father-son bonding.
Mani Sharma's music has always been special for my movies, right from 'Samarasimha Reddy' and 'Narasimha Naidu'.
After 'Narasimha Naidu' became a big hit, I was jobless for 10 months. I became a director in 1985. I have done only 33 movies. I could have done 100 movies had I taken up all the offers that came my way. I take the plunge only if the script is strong. I fear criticism. Everyone from the producer to the actors to distributors must be happy at the end of the day. There were occasions when I did two movies simultaneously.
I am not a writer myself. I work with senior writers. I have introduced writers such as Chinni Krishna to the industry. Until my writers told me the story of movies such as 'Samarasimha Reddy', I didn't know that I would be working on a faction story.
I am trying to get an opportunity to work with Balakrishna garu. I have been listening to a lot of scripts. None of them are clicking with me. If we stumble upon the right script, I and Balayya 'babu' will team up. I am ready for any sort of backdrop. It can be another 'Narasimha Naidu' or a 'Mangavvagaari Manavadu'.
When the hero of your movie is a superstar, you would be inspired to do elevation scenes.
Even in the OTT age, my first preference is OTT. Don't we prefer to watch a movie on the big IMAX screen if it's an 'Avatar' or a 'Baahubali'?
