'Atithi Devobhava', starring Aadi Sai Kumar in the lead, will be released in theatres on January 7. Rajababu Miryala and Ashok Reddy Miryala have produced it on Srinivasa Cine Creations. Directed by Polimera Nageshwar, it has Nuveksha as the heroine. In this interview, actor Aadi talks about the film's USP, his hopes from it, his upcoming movies, and more.
The plan was to release the movie in December last year. But we couldn't. After 'RRR' got postponed, the producers were quick to pick January 7.
My characterization is subtle and novel in the movie. The heroism is not routine. He is facing a crisis in life. He is phobic about staying alone. That's why he treats his guests as gods. Our film is not a horror-comedy. It's a family film about how the male protagonist tides over his fears. There are also intermittent flashbacks and mother-son sentiment. Rohini garu has played my mother in the movie.
Nuveksha is very talented. She is from Mumbai. Youths are surely going to like her. Rohini garu's performance will stand out. The track between me and Saptagiri will be hilarious. Adarsh Balakrishna and other actors have got meaningful roles. If the word of mouth is positive for our movie, the Sankranthi releases will hopefully get a booster.
The sort of character I have played in the movie is quite new. The characterization is entirely new to me. I have mostly played energetic roles. Here, I have underplayed it. It's refreshing.
In real life, I enjoy being alone. I watch films and other things on TV. It's rare to find private time. Everyone has their own way of killing time. I am not active on social media.
I am hoping my performance will be liked by one and all. The script has an inherent emotional quotient. My upcoming movies belong to different genres. I am accepting movies only if I am fully convinced that they will do well.
'Tees Maar Khan' (starring Payal Rajput as the heroine) is a completely commercial film with an intense emotional plot point. It's in the post-production phase. I am doing a franchise film titled 'Amaran In The City', which is high on VFX. It's a content-driven film starring also Avika Gor. 'Black' is a thriller, whose shoot is completed. The shoot of 'CSI Sanatan', a crime investigation thriller, will be completed in 10 days. A new movie will go on the floors for Sankranthi. It's a romantic movie. 'Jungle' is a Telugu-Tamil movie, whose output is superb.
Some of my films suffered because of the wrong release date. 'Rough' and 'Chuttalabbayi' had the right dates going for them. I am confident about 'Atithi Devobhava', whose director has handled the execution part very well. The songs will also work better in the film. Sekhar Chandra garu's songs and BGM have come out very well. I want to work with him again in the future.
It's true that our film is coming out when coronavirus cases are going up day after day. I hope the collections go up over the weekend, considering the coming Saturday is a second Saturday.
