'Vaarasudu' is a 100% family entertainer that will touch your hearts: Srikanth

Srikanth will be seen as Thalapathy Vijay's brother in 'Vaarasudu', the Sankranthi release. In this interview, he talks about director Vamsi Paidipally's film at length, adding that the dialogues are going to be heart-touching. "Even though there have been many family films, this film touches upon some never-seen-before scenes," Srikanth adds. He reveals that Prakash Raj is the antagonist who causes a rift between the family members of the protagonist. Srikanth also talks about RC15 a bit.

This is my first straight Tamil movie. I know functional Tamil because I lived in Chennai for some years. I am glad to have got to work with a big hero like Vijay in my very first Tamil movie. Vijay is a silent-going person who doesn't get chatty. He is very dedicated much like our stars like Allu Arjun.

When the producer asked me to listen to Vamsi Paidipally's script, I went to meet him. I play Vijay's elder brother in the movie. Kick Sham plays the other brother. Jayasudha garu is our onscreen mother. The story deals with a chasm between siblings. I am not a villain, though. You will see a lot of relations, including sisters-in-law, in the story. Family relations have a universal appeal across India. I call director Vamsi a perfectionist.

I have a full-fledged role. The three brothers have a prominent screen presence till the climax. After a film like 'Akhanda', I needed to do something different. My character in RC15 (Ram Charan-Shankar movie) will be so different, again. I am doing two Dil Raju films simultaneously: 'Vaarasudu' and RC15.

The casting has been done keeping in mind the prominent Telugu release. Sangeetha is paired up with me. A lot of actors, especially heroine Rashmika Mandanna, are familiar to the Telugu audience. This is a pakka family drama with human emotions. There are also situational action scenes, which are entertaining. They are not over-the-top.

I was live witness to the mania that Vijay commands at the pre-release event of 'Varisu' in Chennai. This is also his first family film in a long time. It's going to be released in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi. I and Jagapathi Babu garu are getting cast in other languages as well these days.

There are four big releases this Sankranthi. 'Vaarasudu' is different because it's a family film. Two big straight Telugu releases are coming up. Sankranthi holds the capacity to accommodate a handful of movie releases.

Thaman's 'Ranjithame' and the song sung by Simbu have done great. His BGM is unparalleled always. His BGM is going to be a big plus for 'Vaarasudu'.

I am not in a hurry to do one film after another. I am not sure when RC15 will get completed. It has been going on and will go on. I have also shot for Puneeth Rajkumar's 'James', among other movies. I am doing a film for Allu Aravind garu and Bunny Vas. I don't make calculations. I have no set rules to follow. I just follow good scripts and good characters.

Now that I am playing character roles, the pressure is less. I don't have to take it upon myself to promote movies. I did movies like 'Shankardada MBBS' when I was playing lead roles. I have worked with some of the biggest names, even with legends like ANR and Superstar Krishna. I have no pressure from fans either.

I am not sought after for trivial roles in big films. They don't expect me to say 'Yes, Boss!'. Only significant parts come my way. I don't let the male protagonist/hero come out while doing character roles.

My son Roshan Meka is doing a film with Vyjayanthi Movies. It's a very important project for him.
