'Meter' is both entertaining and emotional: Athulya Ravi

Athulya Ravi, who debuted in Tamil with the film 'Kadhal Kan Kattudhe' in 2017, is now making her Tollywood debut. 'Meter', starring Kiran Abbavaram in the lead, will hit the cinemas on April 7. "The response from crowds during the ongoing promotions of 'Meter' has been great. Yesterday, we were at a college where the crowds received Kiran and me with so much warmth. I feel like my career has just begun, not in 2017," Athulya says in this interview. She talks about her character in 'Meter', working with the 'Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha' actor, and more.

I had been wishing to debut in Telugu for about 2-3 years before 'Meter' came my way. During the pandemic, a couple of projects came my way from Tollywood. What looked like a proper launch was 'Meter'. It was only after listening to the script did I know that Mythri Movie Makers was backing the project. By then, I had watched 'SR Kalyanamandapam', in which I really liked Kiran Abbavaram.

'Meter' is completely commercial and also emotional in a relatable way. The father sentiment is going to be a highlight. Not much can be revealed about the storyline and premise. The songs, composed by Sai Kartheek, are superb. There is a proper dance number based on a set. This is a first for me!

I play a quirky woman who doesn't like men. Her trait is the genesis of some comedy situations. When I listened to the narration, I could feel the energy. I was not auditioned for the role. I directly participated in the shoot.

I and Kiran share some similarities. We both come from a short-film background. We would always talk about films on set. His is a cheerful character in 'Meter'. Most of my scenes with him are in that zone. In other scenes, he has done emotional scenes and massy fights.

I am a Tamilian who is slowly becoming fluent in Telugu. When I listened to the script of 'Meter', I preferred to do it in Telugu, though. I got doubts clarified by someone.

Female actors become noted only if they have delivered a hit, or acted opposite a big male star, etc. I have done films at random in Tamil. I have done a big-budget movie in Tamil and now another such movie in Telugu in the form of 'Meter'.

I like to do a proper feel-good love story. I also want to do raw movies. I now want to give my best in whatever I do. A few offers are coming way at present in Telugu. I have given the nod to one of them already. I am doing a film opposite Harish Kalyan in Tamil. Its content has a pan-India range. It will be released in Telugu as a dubbed version.
