'Kota Bommali PS' is hitting the theatres on November 24. Produced by Bunny Vass and Vidya Koppineedi, the film stars Shivani Rajashekar as a constable sans glam quotient.
In this interview, the young actress says that she doesn't think the film will be flooded with comparisons with the Malayalam original, 'Nayattu'. The political survival thriller tries to be original without mimicking its spiritual mother. The 'Adbhutham' actress talks about her experience of working with Srikanth and others.
I tried to approach 'Kota Bommali PS' as an original movie even though its plot has been borrowed from 'Nayattu' (Malayalam). That's because director Teja Marni transposed the setting and dialogue to Telugu nativity. Since the story is set in Srikakulam, the characters speak in the local dialect to ensure authenticity.
This is the first time I have done the role of a constable. However, she is from a rural background. Having played the role of a tribal girl in a Tamil movie before, I had no reservations. I made up my mind once I was briefed about the character.
My Dad (Dr. Rajashekar) consistently advises me to simply behave like the character. I avoid rehearsed acting. This approach has benefitted me. I totally eschew method acting.
The ensemble cast made the experience all the more special. Srikanth garu has been a family friend. I was comfortable with him because I had seen him in my growing years, thanks to his friendship with my father. As for Varalaxmi Sarathkumar garu, I don't have scenes with her. I hardly was on set for two days when she was there. But I got to learn by observing her.

I have realized that planning doesn't always work. We have to work hard without losing one's heart. Success will automatically follow. Commercial movies are my cup of tea but I am waiting for the right offers to come my way. I am confident that, with time, I will land commercial entertainers.
