'Game On', starring Geetanand and Neha Solanki, is written and directed by Dayanandh. The psychological thriller drama features grey characters in an edgy setting. The new-age thriller stars Madhoobala in a key role. Subhaleka Sudhakar, Kireeti, and Big Boss fame Vasanti Krishnan are part of the cast.
In this interview, producer Ravi Kasturi says that there is no doubt that the February 2nd release will surely turn out to be a commercial success. He describes the film as a family film even though the pre-release posters might suggest otherwise. "We have concealed a lot of aspects. What must be revealed has been the director's call," Kasturi says.
Geetanand, the hero of the movie, is my former classmate. 'Game On' was begun because of a casual chat between us. Probably, Tadasthu Devathas were working overtime that day (laughs). Since I am a new producer, I had to learn things while on the job. Nothing comes easy. A job is as exciting as your enthusiasm for it. A producer needs to be patient.
We did encounter challenges due to the pandemic. We got the pre-production right. Extensive planning was possible because of the pandemic. So, that was an upside. The director and his team used the phase for proper, efficient planning.
We have chosen an English-language title because of the confidence we have in the subject. 'Game On' denotes a game-like plot in the film. At the same time, it is an emotional subject and not a dry one.
Recently, when I watched the first copy, I clapped spontaneously. Ramakrishnan and Naba Stunts have done superb stunts. The film has Aditya Menon in a key role. He and others like Subhalekha Sudhakar (I have never met a nicer person in my life) were chosen because they fit the bill. I gave my director all the liberty to choose his artists.
The visuals are so stunning that I am wondering if I am the fortunate producer who invested his money in such a quality product. The visual quality gave me chills!
'Game On' will be distributed by Vijaya Films in Andhra and by another distributor in Ceded. In Nizam, V Cinemas is backing us. It's like an 'own' release. We have no opportunity to sell the movie on an outright basis. These days, small films are not getting that opportunity. Now that I have gained experience, I will plan better in the future.
With dialogues written by Vijay Kumar Ch, the thriller has music composed by Nawab Gang and the Ashwin-Arun duo. Abishek AR has composed the original background score. They have all delivered the level of output the film needed.
There was a time when OTT platforms used to buy any and every film. These days, though, star power and credentials matter. 'Game On' did receive OTT offers early on.
