Center for Environment Education is a national Institute supported by
Ministry of Environment and Forest, which is working in collaboration
with Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (M.C.H) through a project known
as Nandanavanam.
This project involves working with schools in twin cities with the
objective of nature education in MCH parks. As a part of this
initiative CEE, with the help of "Friends of Snake Society" is
conducting snakes shows in schools. 12 schools in the city have been
covered under this till date.
Through CEE today's show was conducted at Lotus Pond Park in Jubilee
Hills. 40 students from Geetanjali and 20 students of Vidhya Bhavan of
8th and 9th attended the show. The main attraction of today's show was
film star Mr.Saikiran who himself conducted the show. He is the vice
president of Friends of Snake Society. The students were told about
different poisonous and non poisonous snakes of India and how to
identify them and what is the first aid to be done when snake bites. He
also gave a talk on the common misconceptions on snakes. The students
enjoyed the morning shower and the snake show very much. The students
were very much exited after seeing live snakes and even some of them
dared to touch and even some put snakes on there shoulders .The school
authorities have asked for more such shows in the future.
