The 100 days function of Y.V.S.Choudary's Devdasu was held in a grand manner at Ramanaidu Studios on the evening of 1st May. The first film to celebrate a 100 days function in the year 2006 Devdasu was initially written off as a Box Office blooper but after 6 weeks of rigorous publicity the film started picking up and is now declared a Blockbuster. Balakrishna, Dasari Narayana Rao and D.Ramanaidu were the chief guests for the evening. Comedian Venu Madhav played the perfect host, for all the guest including Srivanthi Ravi Kishore, Ramesh Prasad, B. Gopal, Rajamouli, M.R.V. Prasad, Boyapati Seenu, Bhagawan Danayya, M.L Kumar Chowdary, R. Narayana Murthy, Surya Kiran and most of the cast and crew present on the occasion.
"The credit for this film's success does not belong to Y.V.S.Choudary" chief guest Balakrishna said "It belongs to the audiences. It was only few months back that I attended Devdas audio function and now we are already celebrating the 100 days function. Y.V.S is an uncompromising director. He also makes sure that the heroines have important roles in the film. He should continue in the same vein and one day equal the standards of Dasari". Balakrishna also complimented hero Ram and heroine Ileana on their performances in the film.
"This is a genuine 100 days function" Veteran director/actor Dasari Narayana Rao said, "the script of Devdas is the best I have seen in recent times. Y.V.S's presentation of the hero's character and body language is absolutely great. It is very unfortunate that in spite of having great new generation directors like Rajamouli, Puri Jagannadh, V.V Vinayak, Y.V.S. Chowdary, Teja and A.S. Ravi Kumar Chowdary, producers are hiring directors from across our border. Y.V.S. Chowdary and Kommineni Venkateswara Rao, who is the reason for Bommarilu banner's success, are like Krishna-Arjun. Hero Ram has tasted success with his very first film and hence forth should be very careful about the steps he takes and be humble about it" he also complimented Music Director Chakri on his fabulous music.
Responding to the compliment music director Chakri gave the credit where it was due "Y.V.S.Choudary gave me an opportunity to compose songs for his film when I was going through a dull phase in my career. He is the sole reason behind the film's success." Chakri also expressed a desire to compose music for a Balakrishna's film.
Chief Guest Ramanaidu, whose Suresh Distributors has the rights for the film in the Nizam area said "During the first week, my manager, said that the film would collect around one crore in the Nizam area. But now the film is all set to collect around three to four crores in the same area. Devdas is an extraordinary film. Y.V.S.Choudary presented the film excellently. Music by Chakri and songs by Chandrabose are also very good".
"Y.V.S. believes in 'Dhairye Sahase Lakshmi' " guest S.S.Rajamouli said "I liked the movie a lot after I watched it in the first week of its release, but due to the talk of it being a flop doing the rounds I did not congratulate him. But now standing on this dais, celebrating the 100 days of Devdas I would like to congratulate Y.V.S on making such a wonderful movie". Rajamouli also said that he wanted Y.V.S to direct Balakrishna, which he added, would create a record in itself.
"Today is the 111th day for Devdas" finally, director, and the true hero of the movie, Y.V.S.Choudary took to the mike. "I became nervous when the film, initially, was not pulling in the crowds. Then with the help of G.K.Mohan we changed our publicity patterns and projected the positive points of the movie. The collections started picking up in the 2nd week and following the good talk by the audiences the film gained momentum by the 6th week through out AP. I would like to thank Aswini Dutt, for offering me financial help, Sravanthi Ravi Kishore for his moral support and Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna for encouraging me after watching the film. NTR is the person who inspired me to become a director and I go to him (NTR ghat) when ever I am in need of mental peace. Although Balakrishna is a reserved person by nature, he encouraged me by attending all the functions of this film. I am very thankful to him".
