Versatile actor and Telugu film Industry's first Comedy hero, Rajendra Prasad, celebrated his 50th birthday on 19th July, with the media, at a function held at the Film Nagar Cultural Club. After a felicitation the actor spoke to the press

On celebrating his 50th birthday
"I don't usually celebrate my birthday and attend felicitation functions. But with this press meet I would like to thank the press and the media for always standing by me. The kind of recognition and praise I get from the Telugu people all over the world is what satisfies me the most today. Andhra people treat me like a member of their family.

His entry into the Film Industry
"During my job searching days in Vijayawada I happened to come across a huge throng of people who had come to see the late NTR during the shooting of Tatamma Kala. After witnessing the love and adulation that the great actor received from the people even I wanted to become an actor and be loved by the people. That is when I approached NTR garu and expressed my desire to become an actor. He told me that everybody has to make their own way in their own style. And I did just that.

On being the indutry's first comedy hero
"When I joined the industry there were heroes and comedians. I wanted to be a hero who was dedicated to do comedy in film so I became the industry's first full fledged comedy hero. But I have also done some serious roles in award winning movies like Erra Mandaram and Aa Naluguru".

Best compliment received so far as an actor
"A 60 year old lady cancelled her trip to Tirupathi so she could meet me personally. She told me that after her son died she no longer had a wish to live and wanted to commit suicide. But after she saw a movie of mine I reminded her so much of her son that she decide to live on. That was one of the best compliments in my life. Even the one given by our late Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao garu when he publicly announced that he watched my films when ever he wanted to de stress himself, is also one of my best".

On his life so far
"I have always lived by my own principals. Seriousness, dedication and sincerity towards my work have made me what I am today. I will continue with those principals in future also" Rajendra Prasad's next film will be in the direction of Nidhi Prasad. The film will go on floors from July 27th.
