The 75 year old Telugu Film Industry's Vajrotsavalu celebrations were launched in a grand style and much fanfare, on 26th January at the Hyderabad Conventional Center, but left many people confused and angry. With the media personnel not being allowed near the main dais, the journalists staged a dharna following a verbal squabble with the committee convener K.S.Rama Rao. Finally, after a half hour, the journalists were allowed near the dais. Confusion further prevailed when actors Allu Arjun and Srihari were stranded near the gate due to security checking. Actor Srihari finally left in a miff.

Amidst all this confusion and chaos the function carried on with singer S.P.Balasubramanyam playing the perfect host for the day. Legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the lamp while many of the senior professionals from the industry looked on. A small animation clipping was screened that showed the late NTR blessing the ceremony from his heavenly abode. Big stars like Nagarjuna, Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna were seen enjoying the celebrations. Film industry veterans were felicitated on the occasion.

The special attraction for the day was Tamil super star Rajnikanth, who flew in for the occasion as the chief guest "I am happy that I was invited to be a part of the Telugu Film Industry's Vajrotsavam celebrations. At this point of time I am reminded of the legend the late NTR and it is nice to see the living legend ANR on this occasion."
