Udaya Bhanu's Press Meet on 'Madhumati'

Udaya Bhanu’s latest film ‘Madhumati’ that got released on Friday (December 14, 2013), surrounded with the controversy when Bhanu alleged that the makers morphed her images in the film and used it in the promo and posters. She registered a criminal case against the film director Raj Sridhar. The investigators said that they sought opinion of the forensic experts to analyse some scenes in the film about which the actress had raised the objection.

Udaya Bhanu played the title role in ‘Madhumati’. She held a press meet on Friday in Hyderabad to explain about how she was cheated and then seek justice. She said, “When the director narrated the story I was very much impressed with it and agreed to do the film. But much to my surprise the story and my character was widely changed than what was narrated to me initially. While I imagined receiving critical acclaims and awards for my performance, much to my surprise, the makers used morphed images and promoted it as a sex film. They have not even shown me the film before its release. In fact I came to know about the film’s release five days prior to the release date. Meanwhile the negative news about me circulated in few websites and magazines which led me to complain to Movie Artists Association. However they said they said that it’s too short a period now and thus directed me to approach the police. Hence I went to the police hoping that justice would be done to me. It was only with the help of police, I along with Tammareddy Bharadwaja garu was able to watch the film on Thursday. I personally felt very uncomfortable watching the film. Therefore, I’m going to fight against it, so that others will not fall into one such kind of a trap in future.”

Reacting to Udaya Bhanu's allegations director Sridhar said, “We really do not understand why she is making such comments. As such she never cooperated with us during the making of the film or during its promotion time.” The audio function was also held without the presence of Udaya Bhanu.
