Habanero Restaurant Launch, Hyderabad

Habanero™, Hyderabad's first authentic upscale Tex-Mex restaurant, is now open in HITECH City. Founded in Bangalore in 2011, Habanero is now expanding to new cities, especially IT hubs. The Hyderabad outlet is the company's fifth in South India.

Habanero is the creation of husband-and-wife team Griffith David, a native of India, and Elizabeth Bowden-David, a native of the US. Together they spent years in the American southwest, soaking up the region's cheerful culture and the flavors of Mexican border cuisine. As Bangalore residents for the last ten years, Griffith and Elizabeth understand the high-energy, fun atmosphere, and authentic tastes that residents of India's booming cities are looking for. The duo has partnered with Dan Durkin, an American chef with more than 15 years of experience in the US and Asia, to bring authentic Tex-Mex flavors to their clientele in India. In Hyderabad, we are proud to tie up with our local franchisee La Sano Vidda [Pardhu Kanala, Lalitha Dutta, Harsha Penmetsa].

Habanero features hearty vegetarian and non-vegetarian fare such as fajitas, burritos, quesadillas, and tenderloin. Among the must-try selections are Macho Nachos, Chipotle-Marinated Chicken, and Holy Guacamole, which is an avocado dip made fresh at the table. The favorite desserts at Habanero include Tres Leches Cake (a milk-soaked vanilla creation), Churros con Chocolate (sugar-rolled doughnut sticks,

Mexico's favorite street food), and Molten Mexican Chocolate Cake (gooey-centered cake with a hint of chili.) Classic Tex-Mex drinks such as lemon and tamarind margaritas and beer go perfectly with the cuisine.

With flat-screen TVs and a performance area, Habanero is also an ideal spot for friends to gather to watch a sporting event or to enjoy live music. Its proximity to company offices in HFTECH City will also make it an ideal spot for business lunches and celebratory gatherings. Families will also feel comfortable in the cozy environment and with menu choices that suit every age.

The Grand Opening Fiesta event on March 13th was a great success with foodies from Hyderabad savouring the aromatic flavours of Mexican food, soaking in the rustic Mexico-inspired interiors and dancing the night away to the rhythms of renowned Latin percussionist from Colombia, Viviana Gonzales and guitarist, John Fernandes from Goa.

Established in 2011 with our flagship Habanero Restaurant & Bar in Whitefield, Bangalore, we have grown steadily in regional capacity to become a benchmark for cultural Tex-Mex cuisine in Bangalore, Chennai & now Hyderabad. Bangalore's first authentic Tex-Mex restaurant, Habanero features hearty vegetarian and non¬vegetarian fare using the freshest ingredients. Over the years Texan and Mexican cuisines melded together into what's now called Tex-Mex. At Habanero, we feature all three: classic Mexican foods, Tex-Mex creations, and Texas-influenced American items. Our menu features nachos, burritos, quesadillas, and burgers, as well as grilled chicken breasts, fish, and tenderloin. Classic drinks such as margaritas and sangria go perfectly with the cuisine. Sweet endings to the meal range from the distinctively Mexican tres leches cake, the American-style cheesecake with caramel topping.

Our Chief Operating Officer, Dan Durkin has over 15 years background in delivering top dining experiences across Asia. A native of the Southwestern United States, who has done his fair share of travel across Mexico, Dan is intimately familiar with the nuances of the foodways of Mexico. A trained chef with a background that includes working alongside some of the US' top chefs, Dan is excited to share the vibrancy and fun of Mexican cuisine in a laid back, casual atmosphere with India and the world.
