Best Hands India EXHIBITION AT THE CTIY'S FIRST SOCIALLY CONSCIOUS CRAFTS STUDIO

Hyderabad based NGO, Best Hands India — a unique Arts and Crafts Studio, has now opened its doors to the arts and crafts lovers of Hyderabad. Tucked away amidst the hustle and bustle on the busy Raj Bhavan Road. Best Hands India has the ambience of old world charm. This compliments the exclusive collection of traditional arts and crafts that the store boasts of.

The exhibition on March 30 & 31 at the socially conscious store cum studio has NG0s, artisans, and selfhelp groups from across India participanting and demonstrating their exquisite skills and handiwork. The products on sale include beautiful handmade Kalamkari and Madhubani clothing, handcrafted jewelry, footwear, bags, wallets, paintings, lampshades, toys, linen and much more.

Mrs Chandana Chakrabarti has graciously agreed to inaugurate the exhibition at 11 am, on 30th March at the Best Hands India store. Speaking on the occasion, she said "I am happy to see that Best Hands India is providing a platform to NGOs and Self-help groups in their efforts. The products on display use age-old skills of traditional Indian craftsmen in contemporary designs."

BestHandsIndia has been set up by Ms. Dharuni Garikapaty who left her corporate career with the aim to give something back to society in the form of arts and crafts. "We conceived Best Hands India as an organisation that provides a platform to promote Indian handicrafts through the participation of underprivileged craftsmen (especially crafts women), buyers, crafts-lovers and other stakeholders." said Ms Garikapaty, "We source work directly from artisans, self-help groups, and NGOs and reduce the number of channels/intermediaries."

"Besides offering handmade products, we also organise quarterly melas and invite Artisans, NGOs and Self Help Groups to showcase and sell their products." continued Ms. Garikapaty, "Bestliandslodia also works towards providing sustainable livelihoods by holding workshops in traditional arts and crafts. We will be imparting training to women from the lower economic strata of society and give them a source of income."
