World Music Day 2015 at Hyderabad Public School

World Music Day in Hyderabad is an annual festival which grew over years from a small event at Alliance Française Hyderabad into the biggest music festival in the city. It is being held on 20 June 2015, at Hyderabad Public School, free and open for all.

The aim of the festival is to join the worldwide celebration of the Fete de la Musique, also known as World Music Day. This is an annual music celebration taking place in June, on the first day of summer in cities around the world. Amateur and professional musicians are encouraged to perform free concerts, making all genres of music accessible to the public.

In Hyderabad, the music festival is organized every year by Alliance Française Hyderabad, Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad, Hyderabad Western Music Foundation and Hyderabad Public School. It provides a common platform for all musicians: young and old, amateurs and professionals alike to perform for the twin cities.

About this year's edition:
The official theme of this year's edition of the festival is "vivre ensemble la musique" or "living music together". This has been applied in a two-fold manner by the organisers of the festival. On the one hand, duos, trios, quartets and bands have been encouraged to play together rather than solo performers, thus bringing musicians and artists to 'live" their music together. On the other hand, the musical performances will be open and free to the public, in order to bring music closer to our lives, and enable all to experience and 'live" both familiar and new music styles together!

About the performers:
Musicians from different styles, schools and cultures present in the Twin-Cities invite you to celebrate World Music Day 2015!
21 bands will perform, among them: a string quartet, school groups, a band combining western rock and eastern tradition, professional Tamil and Telugu playback singers, as well as a students' duo from Madagascar. Most of the bands are local with the performers' ages ranging from 9 to 75 years.

The bands were selected during the World Music Day auditions, which were free and open for all and took place on 16 and 17 May 2015.
