The Deloitte Monsoon Regatta commences with the Topper Nationals and at top seed is Ragi Rajnikanth of Hyderabad who has tasted Silver and Bronze at the Nationals in Hyderabad and Bombay and hopes to grab the yellow metal in 2015. The Topper is the worlds largest fleet of dinghies and has taken India by storm. Rishab Nayyar also from Hyderabad alongside Nikhil Kumar are the likely challenges depending on the wind conditions. Ragi Rajnikanth and orphan who took to sailing at a young age is supported by the Yacht Club of Hyderabad and nurtures the dream of representing India very soon. Amongst the Girls Janaki Balachander from Chennai is the favourite. The Deloitte Monsoon Regatta will host the National Ranking Optimist Class for sub juniors below the age of 16 and the cream of the youngsters from across India and the top 10 in India will battle it out for the metals. Local lad Masti Saibaba, a small farmer's son, at the LSN Foundation hostel nurtured his talent at the Yacht Club of Hyderabad and finished a career best of 6th at the Pune Nationals and harbours the dream of a podium position in the Sub Junior under sixteen Optimist championship despite knowing that the cream of Indian Yach persons with years of international experience will be sailing which includes top seed Chitresh Thata of Chennai who has been selected to represent India at Kiel Week, Germany. Aniketh Rajaram , of Chennai, another strong contender in heavy winds will be arriving next week for the Optimist Regatta. "The Monsoon Regatta is now part of the 4 Seasons Championships that include the Winter and Summer Regattas to he held in Mumbai and Chennai. The idea is to provide a clean, sophisticated and competitive platform to all young sailors across India with a focus on helping the economically challenged strata of society to gain access to Dignity Through Sports which is the dictum club which actually runs like a foundation", said Suheim Sheikh the Founder President of the Yacht Club. "This is the fourth year in a row that Deloitte is associated with the Monsoon Regatta. The focus of this event held at Hussain Sagar lake in Hyderabad is to protect the environment and steadily improve the quality of the lake. It creates awareness and brings sailors, people, and the government on a common platform to support cleanliness in the lake.
