History of BMW 

Bayerische Motoren Werke(BMW) is a German-based automobile manufacturing firm, popularly referred to as BMW. It was established in 1916 by Franz Josef Popp.

BMW is based in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. With a record of 105,876 staff, BMW is one of the most respected and valued automotive makers in 2012 aside from Audi and Mercedes-Benz.

Founders, Owners & CEO:
BMW was established by Camillo Castiglioni, Franz Josef Popp, Karl Rapp. It was originally Rapp Motorenwerke, an aircraft production company. In 1918, the company's manufacturing unit was forced to stop making aircraft engines after the First World War, but in 1923 they moved into motorcycle production.

In 1930, a few years later, following the termination of the convention, the corporation was issued a green signal to the aircraft manufacturing unit.

As of 2016, the BMW's owners are Stefan Quandt, 29% owned, Susanne Klatten, 21% owned and the other 50% owned by public companies.

Harald Krüger has been with BMW since 1992 and is Chairman of the Board of Managemen and CEO since May 2015.

Manufacturing Divisions:
The business produced sales of € 76.84 billion with four operational units-BMW Motorrad, Mini, BMW Motorsport and BMWi in 2012. BMW has been identified between the largest car suppliers and the top 20 best technological firms in which to operate, according to well-known magazines and surveys.

Profile & History:
BMW is the parent organization of the internationally regarded Rolls-Royce road car brand, the Royal Family. BMW is already manufacturing and assembling vehicles and bikes, with latter being transported under BMW Motorrad. The firm forms the trio of the expensive automotive makers usually referred to as "German Big 3," the other two being Audi and Mercedes-Benz.

Because of the quality and the production method involved in each automotive creation, BMW was named the most productive automobile manufacturing unit with 1,845,186 cars and 117,109 motorcycles in 2012. In the last couple of years, output of BMW cars and motorcycles has rising steeply.

BMW vehicles have enjoyed success at various events, most notably the BMW Sauber F1 program in 2008. BMW is a proud sponsor of numerous sports competitions and leagues including different football teams, Olympics, Olympic Committee games, European golf and PGA Tournaments such as BMW International Open and BMW Italian Open in Germany.
