Ramanurthy aka Tiruchinapalli Krishnaswamy Ramamurthy, one of the two veteran music directors Vishwanathan-Ramamurthy took his last breath on Wednesday in a private hospital in Chennai. He was 91. It’s learnt that Ramamurthy was suffering with old age ailment for quite some time. He is survived by his wifeDharmambal and eleven children. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jaya Lalitha, Tamil Nadu Governor K Roshaiah, DMK president Karunanidhi, singer P Suseela, were few of the prominent personalities who offered their deep condolences on Ramamurthy’s death.
Ramamurthy started his film career as music director in 1952 along with another music director M S Vishwanathan. The duo worked together for about two decades and composed music for altogether 400 movies including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam. They are very famous in Tamil as they delivered several musical hits in Tamil film industry. A few movies in Telugu are ‘Ma Gopi’, Intiki Deepam Illalu’, ‘Santhosham’, ‘Tenali Ramakrishna’, ‘Aada Brathuku’, ‘Kutumba Gouravam’, etc.
