Nayantara might not have got her breakthrough with Sekhar Kammula’s ‘Anaamika’ but she is busy with back-to-back films in Tamil. The 29 year old Nayan is currently shooting ‘Idhu Namma Aalu’ (opposite Simbu), ‘Thani Oruvan’ (opposite Jayam Ravi) and ‘Nanbenda’ (opposite Udhayanidhi Stalin). Also in the pipeline for the actress is Venkata Prabhu’s untitled film opposite Suriya. This is the third film in the combination of Suriya-Nayantara. The duo earlier worked together in ‘Ghajini’ and ‘Aadhavan’.
‘Anaamika’ (Nee Enga En Anbe in Tamil) is Nayantara’s first female oriented movie. But unlike Vidya Balan’s ‘Kahaani’, this remake film could not attract the south audience. Following the poor performance of the film at the box-office, it has been rumored that Nayan felt that she could not carry the entire film on her shoulders and thus decided to stay away from heroine oriented films in future. However, the actress denied it saying that she has no such thoughts any time and that she has been signing films till date based on liking the story at that moment only. According to her, she is happy with the characters she is getting off late. Regarding ‘Anaamika’, she admitted that she is very satisfied with the way Kammula designed her character in the film even though the film did not receive the response as expected. After 'Srirama Rajyam', Nayan is yet to see a decent success on Telugu screen.
