Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies have said that the first edition of 'Ponniyin Selvan' will head to the theatres in 2022. As is known, the film is a two-part edition. The second part is likely to release in 2023.
Based on a novel by the same name written by novelist Kalki, the film features a number of seasoned actors from across the country. While the makers are yet to confirm their names and respective characters that they are playing in the magnum opus, the likes of Aishwarya Rai and Karthi have already confirmed their presence. Besides, Vikram, Trisha and a lot of actors from Kollywood are part of the cast.
"The production works are currently on at a fast pace. The visual wonder will be released worldwide on a big scale," the makers have said.
AR Rahman and S Ravi Varman are taking care of music and cinematography, respectively. Written by Jeyamohan, the film has Thota Tharani and Sreekar Prasad handling the art direction and editing departments, respectively.
The film is presented by Subaskaran of Madras Talkies.
