Litmus test for 'Acharya' begins

Advance bookings for 'Acharya' have been kicked off. From now, trade analysts, trolls and 'anti-fans' alike will keep an eye on the pace at which tickets for the big two-hero movie are getting sold on an hourly basis.

The film, set to head to theatres on April 29, is the biggest test as yet for the Koratala Siva school of filmmaking in the era of 'Roudram Ranam Rudhiram' and 'KGF 2'. Depending on how well 'Acharya' opens, we will know if the two films, directed by SS Rajamouli and Prashanth Neel respectively, have spiked audiences' expectations to unrealistic levels in the short term. If 'Acharya' doesn't open massively, it will be clear proof that everyone needs to up the game.

Mass movies featuring superstars like Chiranjeevi rarely have a slow start. Given this reality, 'Acharya' looks poised.
