The tension between 'Salaar' and 'Dunki' has just gotten worse. Limited-screen properties of PVR-Inox, the country's biggest exhibitor network, will not be showing Prabhas' December 22nd release across India.
Reports today said that PVR-Inox chose 'Dunki' over 'Salaar' in northern India by allotting all shows at their single-screen properties to the former. Purportedly, this happened after Shah Rukh Khan personally intervened and spoke with the most important promoter of the multiplex chain.
Following the shocking decision made by PVR to give a raw deal to 'Salaar' in northern states, the makers of 'Salaar' pulled out their movie from southern states as a mark of protest. "The 'Salaar' team has refused to provide content to PVR, INOX and Miraj due to alleged unfair trade practices in North India," said trade analyst Himesh Mankad.
There are murmurs all over. "As a listed company, PVR Inox has a responsibility to its shareholders and not superstars (SRK in this case). Trying to limit the showcasing for 'Salaar' to please someone is not only unethical but will hamper your larger Interests in southern India," opined a trade site.
