Vamshi Paidipally is visibly hurt by the negative reviews garnered by his latest film, Varisu.

The Pongal release has been panned by some film critics. A few of them said that the screenplay is reminiscent of the style adopted by TV serials.

In an interview, the Maharshi director lost his cool and asked critics not to degrade TV serials. "They engross many viewers every evening. It's a creative job, much like filmmaking is," the director told a Tamil media house.

He added that critics have no clue how much hard work goes into making a movie. He lauded his hero, Thalapathy Vijay.

Paidipally further said that he never claimed that Varisu was a brilliant movie or something. "It is an entertainer. I made the film to entertain the audience," the director said, adding that he had entered the film industry after quitting the software job he was doing. He suggested that he has had make many sacrifices.

Netizens are trashing his views, saying that every filmmaker works hard. "No film is made for charity. They make films to mint crores," a Twitter user opined.
