Senior actor JD Chekravarthy has been given an award in the Best Supporting Actor category for his performance in 'Dahini: The Witch'. The award comes from the Eko International Film Festival, held in Nigeria. The versatile actor, who has played villainous, romantic and comedic roles over decades, is happy with the recognition.
Directed by Rajesh Touchriver, the film is produced by Sunitha Krishnan and Pradeep Narayanan. So far, 'Dahini' has won 18 international awards.
JD was recently also seen in films like 'MMOF'. Films like 'Shiva' and his early association with Ram Gopal Varma shaped JD's career. "I have often told Ramu garu (RGV) that only crazy people work under/with him. I remember the days of 'Shiva', when only Nagarjuna garu understood the story and liked the film after watching the end product. Many of us who worked on the movie slept through the premiere. We wondered how the audience would like such a movie when even we found it boring," JD commented in an interview.
