When Renu Desai was blamed for failure of Pawan Kalyan's film

Back in the year 2005, Pawan Kalyan was seen in a crime action drama titled 'Balu: ABCDEFG'. The film's audio, thanks to Mani Sharma, was a chart-topping one. Expectations were high from the movie although Power Star himself was not in a good form at that time. But the film eventually flopped.

Renu Desai, in her latest interview, suggested that she was scapegoated after the film received a drubbing at the box office. Renu, who was Pawan's wife at that time, was blamed for allegedly insisting that Neha Oberoi be chosen as the heroine.

The truth of the matter is that Renu didn't even know Neha. It was director Karunakaran who felt that Neha looked as beautiful as Aishwarya Rai and therefore cast her opposite Pawan. Renu clarified that she didn't find Neha that great and was actually sceptical about the casting. Since Pawan and Karunakaran preferred her, she let them go ahead with their choice. After the film flopped, Renu was wrongly blamed for "picking the wrong heroine".

Neha has been married to a diamond merchant named Vishal Shah.
