In a recent interview, cinematographer Chota K Naidu commented that director Harish Shankar always used to have only his way during the making of 'Ramayya Vasthavayya'. "Some directors don't listen to you. They want it only their way. I try to convince them but if they don't listen, I give up. One of them is Harish Shankar. A blessing I enjoy is that my anger dissipates in no time. That's what has always helped me," Chota added.

On Saturday, director Harish Shankar issued a statement saying that he was not inclined to continue working with Chota during the making of that film. "It was producer Dil Raju garu who asked me not to change the cinematographer. I too didn't want to be stubborn because I feared that people might gossip that I had become arrogant after the success of 'Gabbar Singh'. Even though 'Ramayya Vasthavayya' didn't do well in theatres, I never blamed you (cinematographer). Time and again, you have poked me in your interviews. I have never done that even though I have given 100 interviews since that film was released. I am compelled to issue this statement because those who like me feel that my self-respect is under attack," Harish Shankar said.
