The 69th Filmfare Awards ceremony was held in Gujarat's Gandhinagar on Sunday. Hosted by Karan Johar, the event saw 'Animal' and '12th Fail' engage in a neck-to-neck battle for the highest haul. While '12th Fail' was a humble film made on a small budget (relatively), 'Animal' was a Rs 900 Cr monster at the box office last year.

Ranbir Kapoor won Best Actor In A Leading Role for 'Animal', directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Even those who didn't like the movie loved the 'Brahmastra' star's performance in the Bollywood hit. Alia Bhatt won Best Actor In A Leading Role (Female) for 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani'.

Pritam, Vishal Mishra, Manan Bhardwaj, Shreyas Puranik, Jaani, Bhupinder Babbal, Ashim Kemson, Harshwardhan Rameshwar, and Gurinder Seagal won the Best Music Album award for 'Animal'. The Best Playback Singer (Male) went to Bhupinder Babbal for the song 'Arjan Vailly' in 'Animal'. The album of 'Animal' is considered one of the best from Bollywood in years.
