'Episode in Chiranejevi's 'Tagore' ruined doctors' image, caused stress'

In a recent podcast, Dr. Guruva Reddy, MD of KIMS-Sunshine Hospitals, lamented that the hospital scene from Chiranjeevi's 'Tagore' has done a great disservice to the healthcare sector.

"Whoever wrote that scene has done immense harm. Under the influence of the hospital episode, nobody trusts doctors anymore. It is true that a small percentage of doctors are unethical and suck patients' money, but what the film showed about doctors was highly exaggerated. If a patient dies due to a complication after being admitted to a hospital, doctors are expected to prove that they didn't cause the death. I challenge the film's writers to work under stressful conditions as we do for a day. They won't last even a day. We do thankless jobs," Reddy said.

The doctor added, "Chiranjeevi garu is one of my friends. He has had me as a guest at his place several times. I told him the episode in 'Tagore' ruined our peace of mind. Apparently, the scene was much worse but Chiranjeevi garu got it toned down."

'Tagore' was the remake of 'Ramana', the Tamil film originally directed by AR Murugadoss. The remake was directed by VV Vinayak.
