It has been more than a decade since Ram Gopal Varma lost it. 'Saaree' is the title of his next film. The good news is that RGV hasn't directed it; he is only its producer. The bad news is that RGV's 'paithyam' is written all over it even though he is not its director.
Described as a psychological thriller, the film's Teaser has been cut in such a way that its first half comes across as an erotic cringefest and its second half comes across as a basic, superficial, vicarious showreel of a creepy pervert. One hopes the makers aren't joking when they describe their film as a psychological thriller. We trust someone of RGV's stature to know what the genre usually entails.
By the way, there is some good news for the Kannada audience from the makers of 'Saaree'. The film is not going to be released in Kannada. Hard luck for the Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi audiences. This November, be prepared to mute RGV's social media handles. You won't be able to take even its promotional content.
