ZEE5 is ready to stream its latest original series titled Memu Cop’ulam. The show features a notable cast led by actor-politician Naga Babu Konidela alongside Getup Srinu and Ravi Teja Nannimala (Dasara, HIT 3). Pradeep Maddali directed the project following his recent success with Vikkatakavi. Writer-director BVS Ravi and Kaumudi K Nemani produced the series under the RAW Entertainments banner. Shoban Chittuprolu penned the story for this digital exclusive.
The story is set in a village within the Godavari districts during the festive season of Sankranti. Two police officers receive their first major case during the celebrations. These characters possess unreal confidence but lack the kind of functional sense expected of them. They follow hilarious clues and suspect every local resident they encounter, sparking confusion and, potentially, resistance. Slowly, the issue snowballs out of proportion, leading to an adventure involving the nincompoops. Naga Babu, who has been choosy, noted that the project immediately connected with him due to its setting and honest storytelling. He expressed his joy in returning to the platform after his work on Paruvu, a show with an intriguing premise.
Meanwhile, a creative gig featured Getup Srinu and independent journalist Jaffar in a staged sequence. The video went viral across social media platforms because it was not clear to the public that it was a cryptic ad. The satirical tone of the show and its title got unveiled through the gig. Naga Babu shared that he is glad to be part of a series that "balances humor with meaningful local narratives".
Memu Cop’ulam, which is set for streaming on ZEE5 soon, has no social or caste-based narrative. The word 'cop' has been punned in interesting ways ever since Venky's "Call the cops" joke involving Brahmanandam.
