‘Chhatrapati’ that features Prabhas as the lead directed by SS Rajamouli was produced by BVSN Prasad on Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra banner. The film which has released on 30th of September 2015 has completed a decade. It has brought mass action hero image to Prahas and action director image to SS Rajamouli. BVSN Prasad became famous as ‘Chhatrapati’ Prasad through this film. The film has now completed one decade and on this occasion Star producer BVSN Prasad had an interesting chat with the media. Here are the excerpts:
‘Chhatrapati’ has completed a decade. Tell us about the film which earned you the image as ‘Chhatrapati’ Prasad?
‘Chhatrapati’ has completed one decade. I have been working in the film industry since 15 years. I’ve made several successful films. But ‘Chhatrapati’ has brought special recognition to me. I became popular as ‘Chhatrapati’ Prasad after this film. It’s an unforgettable film in my career.
‘Chhatrapati’ is the first film in the combination of Prabhas and Rajamouli…could you share some memories.
When I got the idea to make a film in the combination of Prabhas and Rajamouli, first I approached Prabhas and he was impressed by the script and accepted to act in this. He trusted the script and encouraged me. Rajamouli is already a successful director then. He already has 3 consecutive hits. Today, my hero and my director earned international fame. I’m very happy that they have given such a great film ‘Baahubali’ to the Telugu industry.
Tell us about Prabhas’s mass image?
Prabhas earned action hero image through ‘Chhatrapati’. Prabhas’s acting is one of main reasons for the film to be remembered forever even after completing a decade. Can you share interesting stories while shooting the first scene?
The shooting of the film took place in Visakhapatnam. It’s an unforgettable experience. We used huge crane for shooting a scene in a park at the middle of the ocean. It’s a risky scene and we feared to send heroine there.
When will be the next film in the combination of Prabhas and SS Rajamouli?
I too eagerly waiting for the opportunity. Presently, they both are busy with ‘Baahubali-2’. Shooting with Rajamouli means a memorable thing. So, I’m hoping that will happen.
Could you brief about your unforgettable experience?
I’ve earned good name and recognition through ‘Chhatrapati’. Whenever it is screened on small screens, I receive many phone calls. It’s an unforgettable experience.
Tell us about your career in starting stages?
I entered into the film industry in the year 1984. I’ve made ‘Driver Babu’ with Sobhan Babu as hero in 1985. It has released in 1986. At first, I thought to make the film with Superstar Krishna. But, there was a problem with call sheets. My first film was released as slated time. In those days, it’s an unforgettable experience.
In what way the control on the budget changed over the years?
So far, I’ve made several films in the span of 15 years. In those days, I estimated Rs. 40 Lakhs budget for Sobhan Babu’s film. But it has increased Rs 10 to 20 Lakhs. However, they have grossed more money. We have completed ‘Chhatrapati’ within the estimated budget. Because we discussed each and every aspect with the team. The estimated budget will not change unless any unexpected situation arise.
One final Question. Tell us about NTRs ‘Nannaku Prematho’ film details?
BVSN Prasad concluded his interview saying, “NTR starrer ‘Nannaku Prematho’ has completed 70% of shooting. We are producing the film under Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra banner with Reliance Entertainments as presenter. According to the story requirement, we are shooting the film in the picturesque locations of London and Spain. New schedule will start in Spain from 20th of September. I’m sure the film will be a visual treat for NTR fans. Director Sukumar is crafting the film wonderfully.
