'Gam Gam Ganesha' is an entertaining crime comedy: Producer Vamsi Karumanchi

Come May 31, 'Gam Gam Ganesha' will be released on 400 screens. Dheeraj Mogilineni is releasing it in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, and Mythri Movie Distributors is doing the honours in Nizam. In this interview, debutant producer Vamsi Karumanchi says that whoever has watched the movie has been surprised by its quality. He talks about the Anand Deverakonda-starrer at length while also telling us about his background.

I have IT companies in the US. I am passionate about cinema. I used to distribute movies in the US. I hail from Guntur. I used to be a 'nela tiket' FDFS batch as a resident of Guntur. I am a huge Balayya fan! In the US, theatre managements used to be surprised by the hungama I used to do during his movie shows. The Covid-induced lockdown in 2020 is what unexpectedly swung me into the film industry. But for the pandemic, my entry into the film industry would have happened later.

I have known Anand Deverakonda and his brother, Vijay Deverakonda, from the time before I entered the film industry. I was not sure whether he would want to play a funky, brash character of this sort. Contrary to my reservations, he instantly took to the character. Director Uday Shetty is very good at narration. He explained the entire screenplay to Anand. We knew that Anand would be apt for the lead role. Anand wants to try new subjects and genres.

'GGG' is a crime comedy whose story revolves around a statue of Ganesha. Each character has a quirk or has a unique trait. Money is at the centre of the plot.

Anand was supposed to do 'Baby' and 'GGG' simultaneously. His hairdo is somewhat messy in our film. His look in 'Baby' was different. So, he couldn't continue doing it simultaneously. The stupendous success of 'Baby' is a positive for us. Anand has been identified with 'Baby'. While 'Baby' was emotional, 'GGG' is an entertainer. Comedian 'Jabardasth' Emmanuel has a full-fledged role. His experience has helped a lot. Comedy is not easy at all.

The film was supposed to be a Vinayaka Chavithi release in 2023. Due to delays, we couldn't meet the deadline. We wanted to release on May 17 and then on May 25. The latter date was changed because we wanted to avoid a clash with Dil Raju's 'Love Me'.

I am not sure about what my next movies are going to be. I am listening to a crime thriller and a love story. We were associated with the OTT release of 'Dirty Hari' in 2021. As a Balakrishna fan, I would be extremely glad if I get to do a film with him. I had planned to invite him as the chief guest for our film's pre-release event but things didn't work out.

Film industry is one of the toughest industries out there. It is not an easy job to judge others' creativity.
