Director Uday Shetty says that the span of 'Gam Gam Ganesha' is commercial enough and fresh. Ahead of the movie's theatrical release on May 31, he says that the Anand Deverakonda-starrer is an entertainer about grey characters. Vennela Kishore's hilarity in the second half will be among the major highlights of the movie. Describing the film as character-driven, he says that both Pragathi Srivastava and Nayan Sarika are important in the scheme of things.
The core idea of the story struck me during a Ganesh immersion day. At that time, I was working in the writing department of Vijayendra Prasad garu. I pitched the idea to Anand Deverakonda's team through a friend in the industry. I sent them a synopsis. I received a call within five minutes. Anand listened to the story the same evening for over two hours. They okayed the film in a single sitting. I narrated the final script to Vijayendra Prasad garu on his birthday. He thoroughly enjoyed it.
Anand's character is tricky. As such, a star hero wouldn't have suited the character. There is a surprise guest role about which I don't want to talk now. As a screenplay-based movie, it is going to be fresh. Even if 'GGG' were to be released in 2026, the audience are going to find it fresh. Despite the delays, I didn't have to change the script. The twists and turns were kept intact.
We have all watched Cowboy movies from the West. You will find that aesthetic and atmospherics in 'GGG'. The story takes place in the backdrop of Nandyal near Kurnool in the second half. In the first half, Anand's character is a Hyderabadi guy and so the backdrop is Hyderabad.
Fear, greed and conspiracy are the three emotions around which the story revolves. They drive the story forward and change the direction of the different characters. Everyone in the movie, including the hero, is grey. Only one person is white and she is the female lead who comes in the second half.
From the start, I believed in the strength of the story. I must thank the producers for seeing my point. Industry strikes delayed the project. A set got washed away by a heavy rain. We could complete the shoot in the planned period.
There are five songs in the movie, including a Ganesha-themed song. Chaitan Bharadwaj is known for his chartbusters. He enjoyed composing the BGM because this was the first time he had tried this genre. I gave a reference to a Tamil movie for him. He has exceeded my expectations. He is happy that he got to explore the genre.
Producers Kedar Selagamsetty and Vamsi Karumanchi were very supportive without interfering on the creative front.
Puri Jagannadh garu's filmography has inspired me a great deal. But when I look at Rajamouli garu's filmography, I am tempted to try drama.
My next film is going to be an action drama. Thanks to my previous association with Vijayendra Prasad garu, I got into the habit of imagining films with a wide span. The characters are designed accordingly.
