'Gangaputrulu' and 'Sonthavuru' fame filmmaker Sunil Kumar Reddy's 'Valasa' has locked its release date. The film will release on December 18. Bankrolled by Yakkali Ravindra Babu of Sravya Films and Kalakar Productions, its story is set in the times of the coronavirus pandemic when millions have lost jobs in India both in organized and unorganized sectors.
"The film's story reflects so many real stories. Thousands of workers had to walk hundreds of miles to reach their destination during the lockdown. Our film sensitively portrays their plight," the makers said.
"If Monoj Nandam, Vinay Mahadev, Teju Anupoju, Gowri, Tulasi Ram, Manisha, Tanisha, FM Babai, Samudram Venkatesh, Nalla Sreenu, Mallika, Chinnari, and others are migrant workers, Vasu plays a police officer who is duty-minded. The workers bump into Sunny, who plays a software engineer," the director revealed.
A boy and a girl fall in love with each other during their forced migration. Another family lives in mortal fear during their journey back home. There is also a lonely lover girl who pines for privacy to talk with her boyfriend over the phone. There is a pregnant woman who struggles amid the pandemic. The film tells a whole lot of stories.
Music is by Praveen Immadi, the cinematography is by Naresh Kumar Madiki. Sunil Kumar Reddy has also penned its story, screenplay and dialogues.
